Indian weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has been announced the winner of the third edition of the BBC Indian Sportswoman Of The Year award. Mirabai Chanu created history in 2021 when she became the first Indian weightlifter to clinch a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award (abbreviated as BBC ISWOTY) is an initiative by the BBC Hindi in India to celebrate and honour sportswomen from India who have excelled in their respective fields. The first edition of the award took place in 2020, and P. V. Sindhu was the winner. The latest edition of the award took place in 2022, and Mirabai Chanu was the winner.
