AIR NEWS KOHIMA, 1st December, 2022: In a glittering and fun fare, the 23rd Hornbill Festival 2022 kick started at Naga Heritage Village Kisama this evening.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio officially opened the Hornbill Festival by beating the Gong.
Addressing the gathering, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said this day is a historic development for the country as India assumed the Presidency of G20 while Nagaland state is showing its unique culture, and greetings to the world. He said India is a land of culture, and we are the civilisation of thousands of years. India is proud of its tribes, proud of its tribal culture, he added. Dhankhar noted that the state has great tourism potential.
Apart from the gift of nature, the state has something very unique, which is the affection to give, he said, and complimented Naga hospitality. Stating that a great change has taken place in the country starting from the year 2014, the Vice President said Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a new scheme Look East, Act East and in this looking East and acting East and Nagaland is the focal centre where a big developmental change is taking place.
The Vice President also congratulated the people of Nagaland on their statehood day. Cultural presentation titled ‘This is Nagaland’ marked the celebration.
